Dogwood Way
Ben drew the plans and every detail. He designed the exterior, including the Skycove windows, and the study, the deck, the concrete walkways and stairways, the railings, and the retaining walls. Studio Athena did the interior design and chose the exterior paint colors.
In 2024 and 2025 we remodeled the house inside and out. We rebuilt the interior stairway with a new window and a lit handrail, vaulted the great room ceiling, and added an arched window. In the study we built cabinets, bookshelves and a wet bar, installed Lemurian Blue granite countertops, and had a cloudy sky painted on the ceiling. We added walnut fluting around the entry closet and fir fluting in the dining room. The kitchen has the same granite, with a new gas cooktop on the island. We refinished the oak floors and laid new oak in the study and around the stairs. An ERV brings in fresh air.
Outside, we wrapped the walls and roof in Rockwool exterior insulation for energy efficiency, then installed Hardie Artisan siding and FastPlank aluminum soffits for their aesthetic value and wildfire protection. The house has a new roof with solar panels and batteries, two SPAN panels, new gutters and new exterior doors. We rebuilt the front stairway on new footings with new retaining walls, planters, stucco and cable railing. We added new concrete stairs on the north and south sides of the house. We rebuilt the upper balcony and resurfaced the lower one.
