“Ben The Builder’s company just finished a remodel on our basement bath and kitchenette.
They did an outstanding job!! Very professional. Stayed within the budget..except for a water main problem. Most workers are local individual workers with a few subcontractors like SOS plumbing and Ashland electric.
ALL OF THEM DID A GREAT JOB.
Would definitely use them again.”

“We had to remove and replace an old hot water heater that was originally installed into a closet with framing that was too small for the size of the heater. Ben and his team had to remove the door and framing, enlarge the aperture and heater space, drywall and paint the new space, subcontract to a reputable plumber to replace the heater and plumbing, then install a new door and frame and finish the job to blend with the rest of the room. His work was completely professional. His lead carpenter (John) kept us informed throughout the process and kept the job on time and budget. What was most appreciated was the frequent communications as this work was being done over a month-long period when we were away from the home, and trusting the team was critical. We could not be more pleased with the effort. Seamless. On time. On budget. I’d recommed Ben and his team for any construction project in your future!”

“Ben has worked with our 8-unit condo association on multiple projects both large and small over the last several years. He managed the complete exterior painting of all our units in 2019, and has handled re-surfacing of all our decks, large and small repairs to individual units and new construction of access gates between units. At every point along the way, Ben and his guys have been nothing short of extraordinary — reliable, excellent, trustworthy, highly skilled, friendly and always going the extra mile to accommodate us. “We had Ben the Builder organize and complete significant work on our crawlspace, foundation, electrical infrastructure, ducts, drywall, outside siding, plumbing, and drainage. We found them to be friendly, professional, punctual, thorough, and also found that they repeatedly checked with us about the work (making sure they had met/exceeded our expectations). We also found them easy to communicate with, receptive to feedback, and concerned with producing high quality results. During the course of the work, we were forced to add a few parts to the original plan (replacing the wiring was something that was discovered as the foundation and crawlspace were being worked on), and Ben (the owner) was very flexible and easy to work with as we modified our plans. He was also very transparent with the pricing. We will absolutely hire Ben and his team again for future work on our house.”

“We live in a good house, and thanks to Ben’s expertise, our favorite spot – out on the deck where we can enjoy the sun and see the mountains — is just amazing. It’s now a lovely, strongly made and private space where we can sit and read, have supper and take a nap. Ben listened to our interests, developed a plan, gave us a competitive quote and brought in quality workers. Best of all, he kept in touch throughout the project and made sure everything was working out the way we wanted and even followed up even after the project was done. Next up, new lighting and new facing on an exterior overhand and then new floors. Ben the Builder is the best.”

“Ben is FABULOUS!! I am an Ashland homeowner who resides on the east coast — so finding a quality contractor was that much more challenging. Lamenting my predicament with a local merchant during a recent visit to town, Ben’s name surfaced. I asked a couple questions from a variety angles. “Has he worked on your home?” “Were you pleased with the results?” “Was his pricing fair?” What’s his demeanor like?” “Would you hire him to more work for you?” The answers were positive and sincere so I gave him a call. What can I say beyond FABULOUS?!? He was very polite and responsive. He accommodated my out-of-town scheduling needs to ensure we met in person and walked through my Ashland home together to discuss the job. His quote was reasonable and I hired him to perform the work. His team interacted extremely well with my tenant and Ben kept in touch along the way. The result was great!! If you’re looking for quality and competence, consider making Ben the Builder your first call!!”

“Ben did a major renovation in my 100-year-old home that included our kitchen and an adjacent stairwell, laundry room, and bathroom. The project was a total gut that included demolition of a dropped ceiling that had flooded with sewage.
He rebuilt the exterior doorway, replaced all the original plumbing and electrical in the kitchen and basement, handled asbestos abatement, and refurbished the original windows, pantry built-ins, and as much trim that could be salvaged.
The new kitchen has all-new subfloor and flooring, tile, light fixtures, custom-designed cabinets, wood trim in the historic style, and paint.
The project also included lots of “honey-do” add-ons that included hand-fitted “dutchmen” in old doorways, several custom-made screen doors, and rehabilitating all the old window, door, and cabinet hardware. They also replaced multiple false beams under the eaves on our home’s two-story exterior.
The renovation was a huge undertaking, but Ben was always sensitive and accommodating. His crew and subcontractors are pleasant and professional, and I never felt uncomfortable being home alone with any of them.
I have never collaborated with a more skilled and professional contractor. Ben is not intimidated by the idiosyncrasies and surprises inherent in tackling a historic property, and our renovation reflects the high level of his professionalism and craftsmanship. We could not be happier with the outcome.”
